GuideVault

Integrations

Connect GuideVault to launchers, smart-home controls, and metadata sources.

GuideVault is built around a local library, but it can connect to surrounding tools. Use Home Assistant for reader control, LaunchBox for game-library workflows, and metadata providers such as IGDB, ESRB, and Open Library to improve item details.

Home Assistant

Home Assistant integration

Expose GuideVault reader state and controls in Home Assistant. This is intended for dashboards, tablet controls, reader commands, brightness/background controls, display mode selection, page navigation, and focus fullscreen workflows.

LaunchBox

LaunchBox connector

Install the LaunchBox plugin to connect LaunchBox with GuideVault. It supports sync, status visibility, match review workflows, and opening matching manuals, strategy guides, or magazines from the launcher side.

IGDB

IGDB metadata

IGDB can help enrich game-related metadata such as developer, publisher, platform, release year, series/franchise, and other game identity details used by GuideVault matching and item detail screens.

ESRB

ESRB metadata

ESRB lookups are used to help identify rating information for game-related documents when rating metadata is available. This is useful when organizing manuals and strategy guides around complete game identity.

Open Library

Open Library metadata

Open Library can help identify book-style records such as strategy guides by ISBN, title, author, publisher, and publication year. It is especially useful for guidebooks and print-style metadata cleanup.

Home Assistant

Control the GuideVault reader from Home Assistant.

The Home Assistant integration is meant for local dashboards and automations. It can expose reader status, active item details, page/progress information, zoom, display mode, background selection, brightness, and app-level reader commands.

Use the latest release page for the current install package and version-specific notes.

Reader controls

Open content, move first/previous/next/last page, set a page, zoom in/out, set zoom, change display mode, toggle overlay, and close the reader.

Dashboard-friendly entities

Use buttons, numbers, selects, and sensors to build a simple remote control panel for a wall tablet, desktop dashboard, or automation scene.

Focus fullscreen wording

The visible control is named Focus fullscreen so users understand it is GuideVault's focused reader mode rather than browser-native fullscreen.

LaunchBox

Open guides and review matches from LaunchBox.

The LaunchBox connector is intended to make GuideVault feel connected to the game you are browsing. It helps sync titles, expose plugin/server status, review match quality, and open matching documents from LaunchBox-oriented workflows.

Use the latest release page for the current plugin package and version-specific notes.

Status visibility

Shows plugin version, GuideVault server version, last synced plugin version, last sync time, and last match time.

Match review

Strategy Guide and Magazine review popups can show loaded title count, matched game connection count, low-confidence connection count, and refresh timestamp.

Safer syncing

Sync buttons are disabled while a match job is active, reducing accidental stacked jobs during large library syncs.

Install note: Always match connector packages to a compatible GuideVault server version. If a connector can talk to the server but actions do not behave correctly, check the server version and the connector release requirements first.

Metadata providers

GuideVault can use external metadata sources to improve library quality.

IGDB, ESRB, and Open Library help GuideVault turn file names and loose local records into richer item details. These integrations are most useful during metadata cleanup, manual matching, and strategy guide database work.

Documentation

Full integration docs live on the wiki.

The website provides download paths and high-level purpose. The wiki should carry detailed setup steps, screenshots, troubleshooting, Home Assistant card examples, LaunchBox installation notes, and metadata source configuration.
